Cascade School of Music is proud to announce that 8 year old piano student, Harper Jensen, has been awarded the Rising Star Award for April. Harper is a student of Krista Aasland, and the daughter of.
The Rising Star Award recognizes students in year one or two of private instruction who exhibit talent, effort, and achievement. The students who receive this award have been nominated by their teachers as showing both great promise as musicians along with great perseverance and commitment to their craft.
Bob Craveiro, Harper’s father, states “She is a renaissance girl. She loves to read and write stories; she is an artist, she enjoys science, math, and nature. Harper hopes to be a composer, performer, writer, and marine biologist (dolphins). But right now the most important ingredients in her life are her friends and family. In the morning she leaves her room and I hear the piano switch on. Then from the loft she begins to play. She fills our home with love.”
Krista Aasland states, “Harper is an adorable, petite young lady. She’s goofy and outgoing. But when she sits down at the piano, she becomes very serious and brings out every detail in the music. Her musicality is that of someone far beyond her years.”
Along with an award certificate, Harper received a $50 scholarship toward her private lessons and goody bags from award sponsors Cascade Indoor Sports, Cuppa Yo, and Cascade School of Music. Harper and subsequent monthly Rising Star Award winners are the only students eligible to win the grand prize $500 scholarship to continue their music studies at Cascade School of Music, which will be announced at Crescendo Bendo to be held at the Tower Theatre on June 2, 2018.
