Originally from Ketchikan Alaska, Meshem Jackson has made Central Oregon his home since 1986. Studying and performing drums and percussion from the age of ten, he has performed and recorded as a professional musician with dozens of jazz, funk, soul, rock, alternative, pop, country, reggae, and blues bands. He also performs with local theater groups for productions like Shrek, Rent, Evita, and Avenue Q, and is currently a member of four popular local area bands. Meshem has been on faculty at Cascade School of Music since 2011 teaching beginning to advanced drummers and directs a percussion ensemble and drumline. He also coaches percussion students for COYO and Sisters middle and high school to prepare students for performances. Meshem also studies piano and music theory and composes percussion ensemble music and drumline cadences. He is in the process of writing educational materials and courses for print and online platforms like Youtube and Instagram.
