Piano Faculty Member
Crystal is native to Bend, Oregon, and has lived most of her life in this quaint little town. She began taking piano lessons at the age of 9, and felt an immediate love. She studied with a reputable Central Oregon teacher, Jean Shrader, throughout late elementary to high school. While in high school she began playing for all of the choirs as well as doing 3 musicals during her high school years. After high school, she attended University of Oregon, and continued playing throughout college and began teaching private lessons when she returned to Bend in 2007.
Crystal joined the faculty at Cascade School of Music in 2011 while also becoming a member of the Oregon Music Teachers Association (OMTA). At that time, she began working on completing a Syllabus exam in order to teach Syllabus students. The OMTA Syllabus is an extensive curriculum for students who are serious about their piano education. Several of her students have entered the Syllabus program, played in piano competitions and recitals, and even one of her students has become a student teacher herself.
Crystal taught privately for 5 years before taking a year off to pursue another full time job to help support her growing family. Her passion for teaching remains strong, and Cascade School of Music is excited to welcome Crystal back to the team for 2017 and beyond!
