Blake Lowrey-Evans

Acoustic and Electric Guitar, Piano, Ukulele

The only thing Blake enjoys more than playing and writing music, is sharing his love for music  through teaching. With an emphasis on allowing each student to discover their own musical  personality, Blake teaches electric and acoustic guitar, ukulele, and beginning piano. There is  so much to be learned through music. It teaches us to be creative, to listen, to be patient, to  set goals, to believe in ourselves, and how to work well with others.

Blake’s own musical journey started when he was very young. Both his parents are musicians,  and he seemed destined to follow in their footsteps. At age 5, while Blake was listening to  Mozart in the car one day, he pointed to the radio and said, “Dad, I want to go there!” Not long  after, he had his first piano lesson.

Several years later Blake started taking private guitar lessons where he learned to play his  favorite rock songs, and was introduced to the wonderful world of Jazz. He went on to major in  Music Education at San Francisco State University, where he studied and performed with many  great musicians. For his final performance at SFSU he composed and arranged music for a 4- piece band. Blake graduated Magna Cum Laude.

Years later, when Blake and his wife welcomed their first child, he discovered a love of the  Ukulele and spent his sleepless nights playing, singing, and recording an album of children’s  music while his son would stay up and listen. When his children started preschool Blake  volunteered weekly to lead the class in music, song, and dance, with ukulele accompaniment.  Now that his children are older, he gives them both piano lessons and ensures that music is still  part of their daily lives. This doesn’t make for a quite household…but he wouldn’t have it any  other way!

Blake has played and performed in many different musical groups over the years, spanning  many different musical styles. He is the guitarist and principal composer for the band 3ofWe,  which has released 3 albums of original music. Blake also performs as a solo artist, in which he  features his own compositions, along with some jazz, classical, and anything else that interests  him.

Blake has over 30 years of experience playing music, and has been teaching privately for the  past 15 years. He is very excited to be teaching at Cascade School of Music because it gives  him the opportunity to be part of a very talented community of musicians, while engaging  people of all ages and skill levels in the thing he loves most!
