Finley Smith

Violin, Saxophone

Finley Smith first began his music practices when he picked up the violin in the 6th grade. He continued to develop his skills and eventually also picked up playing the saxophone. He progressed all through high school being in both top bands and top orchestras at Mountain View High School and is now studying for his Associate Degree in Music at COCC as well as becoming an emerging educator for Cascade School of Music, where he previously studied violin with Brenda Simmons.

Finley has previously been involved and played his violin with groups such as the Central Oregon Symphony and recently played in two state competitions for high school orchestra. Additionally, he participated in a statewide event for saxophone, and has found himself playing in groups such as the COCC jazz band, COCC wind ensemble, and the Tower theatre’s “Swingin Christmas” Jazz Big band. His favorite genres include jazz, classical, and funk music.

When Finley isn’t playing music he finds himself busy exploring the outdoors, serving his church, exercising, spending time with friends and family, and doing upholstery work for the family business.
