Emerging Voices Class
Jimena Shepherd's 14 years of vocal training has made her no stranger to the highs and lows of becoming a skilled vocalist, and she has a passion for helping each student achieve their goals as a singer and artist. Her focus is on cultivating a learning environment for students that facilitates an understanding of their own individual instrument, healthy vocal production, and technical approaches that promote free, dynamic sound and expression. She recognizes that each voice is individual and works with each student to discover and understand their core vocal qualities and apply it to different styles of music.
Jimena has been teaching private voice in Central Oregon since 2011 and has enjoyed all the challenges, discoveries, and personalities along the way. She has been very active in Bend's music and theatre community for the past 14 years, consistently working as a voice instructor, director, musical director, and performer. She has lived in the realm of Musical Theatre for over a decade, directing and musical directing productions both with BEAT and with Ovation Performing Arts. Be warned, she has a tendency to bring some "stage presence" and "dramatic flair" to each lesson!
When not teaching, Jimena loves spending time with her two kiddos who keep her on her toes and thoroughly entertained with their shenanigans. Abstract oil paintings she loves, and a good sushi roll makes her do a happy dance. Lastly, she is perfectly content falling into a "think" hole and staying there for hours.
