Voice, Piano, Guitar, Oboe, and Ukulele
Julianne was born and brewed in a musical family of opera singers, Broadway performers, and professional touring musicians. Her classical training in voice, piano, guitar, oboe and ukulele were complemented by the soul and funk of the Bay Area where she grew up performing. At age 14 she opened her own Suzuki-method piano school and has been teaching and performing in several states and countries since then. She studied medicine and music at Brigham Young University and formed the first BYU singers group along with participating and writing for jazz ensembles. She moved to Germany after college and wrote her first album that she later recorded with the San Jose State University jazz club.
Throughout her life Julianne has turned to music as a vital part of self expression and has produced many works. She holds the voice as such a potent form of self discovery and one of the most thrilling parts of being alive. Her belief is that everyone can learn to sing and find their own unique soulful expression through entering into the vulnerable space of singing.
Although singing publicly at a young age caused deep anxiety for her, she worked hard and found that behind that fear was the potential for ecstatic bliss and joy! She wishes for her students to move into confident expression and to find the authentic voice that is true to them.
Julianne performs locally in Bend as well as abroad, in solo, duo, and band projects. One can find a portion of her work on streaming platforms under her artist name “Mys Jae.”
She considers it her ultimate pride and joy to assist students in writing original songs and can’t wait to get everybody in the studio!
