Beginner to Intermediate Rock Band Class : an exciting opportunity for aspiring young musicians to immerse themselves in the world of rock music and learn how to create and perform as part of a band.

Course Description:
This course is designed for aspiring musicians who want to learn how to play and perform as part of a rock band. The course will focus on developing skills in singing, guitar, bass, drums, and keys, and will include instruction on music theory, technique, and stage presence. Students will learn how to work collaboratively with other musicians to create a cohesive sound and put on live performances.
Course Goals:
Develop proficiency in singing, guitar, bass, drums, and keys
Understand basic music theory and how it applies to rock music
Learn how to interact and collaborate with other musicians in a band setting
Develop stage presence and performance skills
Learn how to put on a live performance
Prerequisites:
No previous rock band experience is required, but students should have at least a year of experience with their instrument before signing up for the class. We also ask that the students be enrolled at CSM in private lessons to support what they are learning in class.
Refund Policy: Payment is due at time of registration. Class tuition is fully refundable if a cancellation is received more than 48 hours in advance of a class start date. A prorated refund may be requested if a student drops prior to the third week of a class. After the third week of a class no refund will be offered.
Classes cancelled due to unforeseen circumstances, such as weather, will be rescheduled. If a makeup class can not be scheduled then a per class rate 50% refund will be offered.
ACADEMY BLUE PERCUSSION ENSEMBLE

Course Description:
Students in this class have the opportunity to explore and develop their skills in percussion instruments. Students will learn proper tone production, rhythmic reading and understanding, articulation, and phrasing. They will also have the chance to blend sounds and work on timing as a group, enhancing their ability to play in an ensemble setting. Percussion instruments used in this class include marimba, glockenspiel, snare drum, bass drum, tenors, cymbals, triangle, tambourine, shakers, and other hand percussion. By participating in this percussion ensemble class, students can create their own band, discover their unique musical voice, and gain valuable experience in the world of percussion.

Understand your individual contribution with your instrument in an ensemble setting.
Learn how to interact and collaborate with other musicians in an ensemble setting.
Develop stage presence and performance skills.
Learn how to put on a live performance.

HEADLINER BAND
CSM performance rock band, taking what students learn in the Beginning and Intermediate Rock Band a step further. Emphasis on performance with group dynamics and group decision-making paramount.

Course Description:
This course is designed for aspiring musicians who want to learn how to run and manage their own Rock Band, with an emphasis on Live Performance. The course will focus on collaboratively choosing songs that highlight the unique skills of the existing band members. Students will deepen their existing skills in singing, guitar, bass, drums, and keys. Instructors will be offering guidance and instruction gleaned from their real-world experience in music theory, technique, and stage presence. Students will learn how to run and be a part of an effective band rehearsal with an eye toward creating a professional-level live performance.
Course Goals:
• Develop proficiency in singing, guitar, bass, drums, and keys
• Understand basic music theory and how it applies to rock music
• Learn how to interact and collaborate with other musicians in a band setting
• Develop stage presence and performance skills
• Learn how to put on a live performance
• Learn how to run a rehearsal & communicate arrangement ideas in the context of a band setting
Prerequisites:
Experience in Beginning to Intermediate Rock Band Class and instructor recommendation. Students should have at least a year of experience with their instrument before asking their instructor for a recommendation. Students are also required to be enrolled at CSM in private lessons to support their classroom experience.
